Welcome Letter

Hello parents,

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year at Highland Elementary school. My name is Alexandria (Mrs. Alex) Standridge and I will be your student’s speech therapist this year.

I am excited to begin a new school year and I hope you are excited too. I am new to the Greeneville City School system, but I have been a speech therapist for almost 17 years. I grew up in Kentucky, but have lived in Tennessee since 2003. I have worked at Greene County Schools and Laughlin Memorial Hospital (now GCHE) before accepting this position.

I plan to let students get acquainted to school routines, teachers, etc before I officially begin speech therapy classes, but I anticipate that we will start regular schedule the week of 8/23.  I will be going around and introducing myself and meeting your children before we begin. I am also going to spend some time reviewing IEPs (i.e. goals, progress) and speaking to teachers and Mrs. Newland, so we can have a successful start in speech therapy this year.

I feel strongly that parents are such an important part of a child’s progress in speech therapy, so I promise that we will communicate about performance, practice activities and anything else that is needed throughout the school year. This will be in the form of homework activities, informal notes, IEP progress reports and/or annual IEP meeting.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. My office is at Greeneville Middle school, so you can call there: 639-7841 or email me at [email protected].

Best regards,

Mrs. Alex
